After 7 days, 5 feature films, 10 short films and a music event, CAFF 2012 has successfully drawn to a close this afternoon with the Nab’Ubomi Shorts. We’re pleased to announce that all proceeds from the screening this afternoon will go to the Nab’Ubomi project to aid them in the amazing work that they are doing.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us, it was a pleasure showing you these films and we were so excited to receive all the positive feedback that we did. It really is the audience that keeps us coming back each year, so seeing new faces along with our regular friends made it all worth it.

We would like to thank once again Film Africa for being our ‘big brother’ throughout the festival – supporting us at every step and helping us to bring the best of African cinema to Cambridge. Our hosts, the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse and all the staff there for not only showing our films in the best possible way and in the highest quality, but also for hosting our music event and creating a whole African menu for us (!) and especially for being friends along the way.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our friends and sponsors, Jean Khalfa, Trinity College, The Smuts Fund, Emma Wilson and Corpus Christi College.

Last and not least, thank you to Tunde Kelani, Sarah Ping Nie Jones and Kieran Hanson for taking the time to visit the festival with their films, and indeed for allowing us to show their films. Without you the festival really wouldn’t be possible! With that, our gratitude to all the filmmakers whose films showed at the festival this year.

It’s been a blast, keep up with us on Facebook until this time next year!

Fantastic opening weekend here at the Cambridge African Film Festival! A sell out showing of NAIROBI HALF LIFE, and an incredible Q&A with legendary Nigerian director Tunde Kelani following his latest film MAAMI!

Tonight we’re so pleased and proud to welcome Sarah Ping Nie Jones with her film UMBILICAL CORDS, a documentary that looks at the relationship between mothers and daughters from a personal point of view of the filmmaker.

And that’s not all – tomorrow is the SHORTS PROGRAMME, followed by a Q&A with director and anthropologist Kieran Hanson! Wednesday sees modern Senegalese classic, LA PIROGUE and then South African submission to the Oscars, the truly imcomparable LIFE, ABOVE ALL. The festival closes with student short films from South Africa, the NAB’UBOMI SHORTS, which can’t be seen anywhere else.

All tickets are available at the Arts Picturehouse and online; book here!
